May 24, 2019 — HREA is thrilled to announce it's newest Partner - Ellen Peterson! Ellen is an executive coach and consultant with over 25 years of experience providing coaching, executive strategy, business, and leadership facilitation across a spectrum of top-ranked organizations and industries, in both for-profit and non-profit sectors, across the globe. Her industry and functional coaching experience are far reaching: pharmaceutical, petrochemical, manufacturing, automotive, banking, financial, insurance, consumer products, real estate, healthcare, tech, fine fragrance, hospitality, and managed services. She has coached executives through turbulent organizational change -- acquisition, mergers, turnaround, start-ups, new positions and new market expansion -- and achievement of their personal career goals. Ellen has specialized in assisting leaders as they assume new positions and build teams, consensus, communication, constructive conflict, followership, and brand themselves. She is featured in the book, Coaching Competencies and Corporate Leadership, by Dr. Tracey Weiss. Ellen’s capstone assignment was to assist the CEO in managing the transition from a private to a publicly held company; she was responsible for planning and managing internal employee communications for this endeavor. Ellen is certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) as a Professionally Certified Coach (PCC) and completed a Leadership Coaching Certification from Georgetown University. She also has a bachelor of science in labor relations from Cornell University. She is certified to administer a number of instruments used in coaching individuals and teams such as Hogan, DISC, CCL feedback, ESCI (Emotional Intelligence) and MBTI. She is on the Board of the Economy League of the Philadelphia Region (Chair of the Leadership Exchange Committee) and Broad Street Ministries. She moderates forums for issues of critical public interest to Philadelphia and the U.S. such as the Philadelphia mayoral election, waterfront development, and both Philadelphia and Federal budgets.

Susan Gunn is an Executive Director in the People Advisory Services practice of EY. She is based in the Philadelphia area and provides consulting services and support to clients in the US Northeast Region across several industry sectors.

A global business executive with deep expertise in the Human Capital function, Susan has built and developed high-performing teams across multiple industries, countries and cultures. With significant capability in all human resources disciplines, Susan has advised executive leaders on matters pertaining to HR strategy and transformation, executive compensation, mergers & acquisitions and C-Suite, including CEO, succession. With more than 25 years of HR experience, Susan is uniquely talented to assess organizational issues and build and execute plans to address applicable gaps.

At EY, Susan is actively managing multiple change management engagements supporting an IPO transaction, as well as functional transformations in the areas of Finance and Procurement resulting from a global SAP S4/HANA implementation. She is also leading digital innovation initiatives within the human resources function for a global media and entertainment organization in the areas of robotics and data federation.

Prior to joining EY, Susan was the SVP of Global Talent and Compensation for Aramark (NYSE: ARMK). In this role, Susan had leadership responsibility for Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Compensation, HR Technology, HR Analytics, HR Shared Services and HR Transformation. There, she designed and delivered multiple programs transforming the way in which talent was managed, including several innovative initiatives that greatly improved frontline talent acquisition and development at scale.

Prior to Aramark, Susan was CHRO of Gardner Denver, a $2.3 billion, publicly traded, global manufacturing company with 40 manufacturing operations in more than 20 countries. Responsible for the company’s HR strategy and its execution, Susan worked directly with the Compensation Committee on all executive compensation matters and with the company’s Board of Directors on M&A activities related to the company’s acquisition by PE (KKR) in 2013. Prior to joining Gardner Denver, Susan held the top HR post at Hay Group, a private, global management consulting firm headquartered in Philadelphia. She was also the CHRO at Willis Group Holdings, plc, a $3 billion, publicly traded global insurance broker (NYSE: WSH) and was based in its London, UK, and New York City headquarters locations. Other senior HR appointments include roles at Revlon and Vivendi Universal (The Seagram Company).

For the past seven years, Susan is an active member of the Board of Directors of Leadership Philadelphia, a nonprofit institution supporting philanthropic leadership activities in the Philadelphia area. In 2013, the National Diversity Council named her one of Pennsylvania’s Most Powerful & Influential Women. Susan holds a bachelor of arts in Economics and a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources with honors, both from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She is bilingual in English and French.
